Dire
Wolf pendant
|
This pendant is carved into a
stylised Dire Wolf, an animal which became extinct
around 10,000 years ago. Dire Wolves were sturdier and
heavier than modern day wolves, with larger teeth and a
powerful build. Their Latin name of Canis dirus
literally means "fearsome dog" and they must have been a
formidable beast.
Dire Wolves make
appearances in old myths and, along with the modern day
species, wolves have long been regarded with awe - Ceridwen, the Celtic moon and
fertility Goddess was associated with wolves and there
are many myths and legends about the wolf being a close
companion of humans and tales of nurture. Conversely,
the wolf's ferocity is also well told, reminding us of
their power. The wolf has associations with the moon,
wisdom and in Celtic lore, also with winter from Samhain
to Imbolc.
The wood is from the

and feels full of positive energies. It is

Druid's herb blend
|
This ancient bog yew piece is carved
into a Moon pendant. It is filled with hand-gathered,
organically grown herbs which are traditionally
considered to be sacred to the Druids: lavender, vervain, yarrow,

Owl of Yggdrasil
|
This detailed bead
necklace is
carved into an owl, traditionally associated with
magick, protection and of course, wisdom. The wood is beautifully
grained ash which had
naturally fallen. There was no bad weather, no wind, it
simply looked as if it had exploded outwards. Huge
splinters were sticking out of the ground and it made
quite a statement and looked as if it had fallen with a
great energy and power.
In Norse mythology,
Yggdrasil was an eternally green ash tree which
had its roots extending below our realm of existence into the
underworld, the trunk was in our realm known as "middle earth" and its
branches
spread over all of the
nine worlds and
extended high above our realm into the upperworlds.

Beltaine Moon pendant
Carved from Irish
bog oak

This ancient bog oak piece is carved

At the top, willow marks the full
moon. It is closely associated with lunar energies, all
things feminine, healing and intuition. Moving around

Celtic bog oak Third Eye amulet
|
This ancient bog oak piece is
carved into a Third Eye amulet, a new design by Spirit
of Old. The wood is from Suffolk and dates back to the
Celtic Iron age, so is around 2,300 years old. The area
is known for its connection to the Iceni, a tribe who
inhabited the area in prehistory - their infamous queen
was Boudicca, well-known for fighting the invading Roman
army. It is deepest black in colour and feels full of
positive energies.
The third eye, also
known as the inner eye, "sees" beyond ordinary
sight. It is the area of our sixth sense and helps to
act as a bridge to connect the conscious and unconscious
mind.
The third eye reminds us of the Celtic shamans seeking
prophecy and wisdom. They were said to have one eye open
and one eye closed - one to see the outer world and the
other looking inwards, seeking hidden knowledge and
messages from beyond the veil surrounding our world.
This is also paralleled in Norse mythology.
Clairvoyance, visions and psychic awareness are all
considered to have the Third Eye at their centre. A
well-balanced Third Eye helps us to be clearthinking and
focussed with a strong sense of intuition.
The
amulet is filled with dried mugwort and vervain, two
herbs which have long been considered to be sacred. Vervain
is a cleansing and purification herb which is also
believed to raise vibrations within the space. Mugwort
has been used for millennia to aid clairvoyance and
astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the
leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked
to induce visions. The herbs are permanently sealed
inside with a protective plug of heather and the amulet
is supplied with a cord or leather
thong.

Lunar Celtic Tree Calendar Ring pendant
|
The Lunar Celtic Tree Calendar
begins and ends at the Celtic new year of Samhain (Hallowe'en)
at the end of October. Each moon throughout the year
corresponds to a different tree, its energies and
teachings. This unique ring pendant contains plugs of all thirteen
woods of the Celtic Tree Calendar.
The darker, main ring
of this pendant is crafted from ancient bog oak. The
wood is from Ireland and is some of the oldest we've
worked with. It was dated through dendrochronology by
Belfast University and was found to be felled in 3,023
BC at an age of 400 years which makes the wood almost
five and a half thousand years old. It is a beautifully
dark colour and feels full of positive energies.
The wood for each plug piece has been
respectfully gathered from the prehistoric landscape
located within the ancient kingdom of Wessex, southern
Britain. We carefully collect wood from places of
ancient revere, centres of earth energy and from green
spaces which speak to your soul.
This pendant is perfect for
bringing the energies of the Celtic tree calendar closer
to you
and also for use during meditation to attune yourself
and enhance your relationship with each of the calendar
trees.
The main bog oak ring pendant contains one plug each of:
Birch -
Rowan -
Willow -
Alder -
Ash
Hawthorn -
Oak -
Holly -
Hazel
Apple -
Blackthorn -
Yew -
Elder
It also has one extra
plug of blackthorn wood added discreetly to the back of
the ring. This shows the placement of the birch plug,
signifying the beginning of the Celtic Tree Calendar
year.

Iceni Moon-wheel necklace
|
This ancient bog oak piece is carved
into a Moon-wheel pendant. Wooden plugs mark the four
phases of the moon, illustrating the ever-repeating
lunar cycle and helping to attune to the varying
energies of each phase. A discretely carved indentation
on the back of the pendant marks the full moon for ease
of aligning the wheel with the current phase.
Willow marks the full
moon. It is closely associated with lunar energies, all
things feminine, healing and intuition. Moving around
the wheel clockwise, blackthorn marks the waning moon
with its inward-turning, more secretive and hidden
energies. Yew signifies the dark moon and brings its
associations with life, death and rebirth, the ongoing
cycles of the earth and the old wisdom which we find
deep within ourselves. Hawthorn is a potently magickal
wood which brings its fresh and youthful maiden energies
to the waxing moon. Together, the woods can be used to
encourage a deeper attunement to the lunar cycle.
Around the edge of the
moon-wheel are thirteen plugs of hazel wood,
representing the thirteen annual lunar cycles. The hazel
wood was respectfully and carefully gathered from near
to the ancient site of Stonehenge in southern Britain.
The bog oak forming the
main part of the pendant is from Suffolk and dates back
to the Iron age, so is around 2,300 years old. The area
is known for its connection to the Iceni, an Iron age
