A pendulum can be a useful tool in
divination and is simply a weight suspended from a cord or chain
which, after a little practice, will swing in various ways to give
answers to questions. Some people like to use a pendulum board which
is marked with "yes", "no", "maybe", etc. but this isn't strictly
necessary as an equally accurate reading can be taken by holding the
pendulum above your other hand and asking it to show you its
movements for those answers.
